Background:

Zoom Technologies Inc. was established in 1999 with a focus on mechanical design and manufacture. Zoom uses advanced computer aided design software which is fully integrated with its computerised machining equipment. The company has gained substantial experience in the design and manufacture of complex mechanical and electromechanical components. For example, it has recently completed a design upgrade for a precision component in a protein analyser system. Another recent contract required the integration of an array of infra-red sensors into an electromechanical printer assembly.

Zoom combines its experience in mechanical and electronic circuit design with its ability to manufacture items in-house. As a result, Zoom can assist clients with the specification, design, testing and prototyping phases of product development and offers a rapid prototyping service.

While production capabilities exist in-house, typically once a design moves beyond a prototype quantity, its production is usually transferred to more automated manufacturing facilities. Zoom maintains a register of production oriented suppliers who are all ISO-9002 quality certified and can work directly with the client. Even though production may be sub-contracted, Zoom still retains full responsibility for all production and quality issues on behalf of its client.
