Zoom has developed many electronic and electro-mechanical sub-systems for its clients. When electronics and programming are needed in a design assignment, a much greater attention to careful and detailed requirements capture and documentation is necessary. The user interface design (e.g. touch screen, buttons, displayed messages, etc.) is critical to the successful acceptance of a product. Flowcharts, state diagrams and many other development tools help with visualizing the overall flow of the program. Development of electronics can often occur in parallel with the mechanical design. Wiring and other details can be modelled to help with visualizing the complete product.
Rigorous integration testing is a critical consideration for an electronic or electromechanical design. This takes time and effort to plan and execute but is the only way to ensure a robust, bug free software design.
