Zoom currently has two major products under development:
- Tool Changer for Small CNC Mills
- One of the limitations of small CNC mills is that they lack an automatic tool changer. Zoom has become aware of this limitation through its own CNC work and has undertaken the development of an 8 tool, carousel based tool changer for all standard Bridgeport style knee mills with R-8 tooling. It will be compatible with many CNC controllers on the market and will not require a new CNC control. It is anticipated that the first prototype will be operational in late 2005 with a commercial version available 4-6 months later.
- Chip Shield for CNC Mill
- Another limitation of the smaller CNC mills is that they lack the full enclosure of industrial machining centers. To address this, Zoom has developed a bolt on table accessory which encloses the entire mill table and captures "most" of the cutting chips that are produced by the cutting tools. It also permits the use of a standard Kurt type vice and can be installed and removed without affecting the vice's position. Currently being readied for production, we hope to have this product available in the 4th quarter of 2005.
